Rottweilers Rescues - Bred History

The Rottweilers originated in Germany. This breed had uses as a Cattle Drover and a guard dog. The breed is descended from one of the drover dogs of Ancient Rome. The name, "Rottweiler", was given to the breed after the southern German town, for which the breed is thought to have originated.
